Prepare for updated basic filters Updated February 27, 2026 18:40 In the coming release, we’re upgrading the basic filters in the Files library to give you more precise control. Powered by Showpad Query Language (ShowQL), the new filters make it easier to find exactly what you need, while introducing a few changes to how basic filters work today. You’ll also be able to sort your library by key engagement metrics, so you can quickly surface your top-performing assets. Unified filtering experience Basic filters will now use the same logic as advanced filters. This update lets you use negation (inverse logic) on any basic filter, making it easier to find exactly what you need or exclude what you don't. What's changing? While these updates add more options for filtering your library, there are a few key differences to keep in mind as we transition to the updated filters. Properties filter logic Currently, some properties are listed as positive (e.g., "Has comments") and others as negative (e.g., "Can't be shared"). In March, all properties will be listed with a positive value. You will then select an operator to apply your logic: is (=): Matches the property (e.g., Is "Used in Experiences") is not (!=): Excludes the property (e.g., Is not "Used in Experiences") Note: You can no longer combine "is" and "is not" operators within a single basic properties filter. To combine positive and negative properties, use the Advanced filter option. Sorting changes To enable more advanced filtering and sorting, the sorting logic for certain columns has been adjusted. Newly sortable: No longer sortable: Buyer interest Buyer views Last buyer activity Last seller activity Seller interest Seller views Authors Countries and territories Languages What happens to my saved filters? We will automatically migrate your existing saved filters to the new ShowQL format. Compatibility Legacy filters remain compatible with Smart Folders and Pages. Operator limitations While all new ShowQL matching operators work within the Files library, some are not compatible with Smart Folders. You will be notified and can make adjustments when saving new filters. Mixed properties If you have a saved filter that currently mixes positive and negative properties, it will continue to work, but you won't be able to create new ones with mixed logic in the basic filter view. What's next? These changes allow you to build more precise filters in your Files library and reapply them as saved filters in the Files library, Smart Folders, and Pages. As a result, tasks like content audits become easier. For example, you can now surface orphaned assets by using the "is not" operator to find files not used in any Experiences. For more complex logic, you can continue to use the Advanced filter toggle next to the search bar. Related articles What's Coming?
