Migrate to the Next-Generation SharePoint Connector

Microsoft has retired the SharePoint Add-In model as of April 2, 2026. This means our legacy SharePoint Connector no longer syncs asset updates from SharePoint to Showpad. To keep your SharePoint content syncing smoothly with Showpad and to continue receiving support, you’ll need to move to the Next-Generation SharePoint Connector. 

We recommend completing the migration as soon as possible so your assets will continue to sync to Showpad.

Migration Timeline

• September 2025 - November 2025
  Migration to the Next-Generation SharePoint Connector was gradually enabled for Showpad customers still using the legacy SharePoint Connector.
• December 2025 - March 2026
  Migration to the Next-Generation SharePoint Connector became available to all Showpad customers still using the legacy SharePoint Connector.
• April 2, 2026
  Microsoft disabled the legacy SharePoint Connector.

What you need to do

Your next steps depend on which SharePoint Connector you’re currently using. If you’re:

• Already using the Next-Generation SharePoint Connector exclusively: You don’t need to do anything; you can continue using it as is.
• Still using the Legacy SharePoint Connector: You’ll need to complete the migration to the Next-Generation SharePoint Connector. Follow the migration steps outlined below to ensure uninterrupted synchronization.
• Using both the legacy SharePoint Connector and the Next-Generation SharePoint Connector: you’ll need to migrate all connections that are on the legacy connector.

Note: If you no longer need a connection, you can skip migrating it.

How to migrate

Note: To minimize the risk of creating duplicate assets, we advise against adding new connections until the migration is completed.

1. Complete the first two steps of the Next-Generation SharePoint Connector (version 1.6.6 or higher) installation instructions:

   • Install SharePoint App in Showpad
   • Authorize Integration in SharePoint

   Note: If you’ve already installed the Next-Generation SharePoint Connector, make sure the version is 1.6.6 or higher.

2. Back in Showpad, click the gear icon to open Settings, scroll to the Showpad Apps section, and select SharePoint.
   • If you haven’t yet set up any connections via the Next-Generation SharePoint Connector, click Migrate connections.

   • If you already have connections via the Next-Generation SharePoint Connector, click Connections. This displays the SharePoint instances you have connected. If you have SharePoint Sites and Document Libraries that need migrating, you’ll see a Migrate connections button next to the Add connections button. Click Migrate connections to view the SharePoint Sites and Document Libraries that need to be migrated.

     Note: Once all migrations have been completed, the Migrate connections button will no longer be available.

3. An overview of all of your SharePoint Sites and Document Libraries eligible for migration is displayed.

   Note: Initially, only the Site/Library IDs are visible. The names will be displayed after you log into SharePoint in the next step.

   From here, you have the following options:

   • From existing: Select from your existing Tenants to make the new connection.

     Note: This option only appears if you have existing connections using app permissions.

   • Authorize new: Select the appropriate method to connect to the SharePoint library to migrate: Connect with app permissions, Advanced app permissions, or Connect with delegated permissions.
4.  Once you’ve successfully connected, a message is displayed in Showpad letting you know that the migration has been initiated. Click OK to close the message. The names of the SharePoint Site and Document Library are now displayed, and the status is Migration initiated.

5. In the SharePoint Site you’re migrating, you need to confirm the migration in the legacy SharePoint Connector for the library. Click Migrate to confirm. A message is displayed to confirm the migration. Click OK.

   

6. Returning to the Showpad Connections dashboard, the In progress status is displayed during the migration. At this time, all SharePoint assets connected to the Files library are being updated in Showpad. The status changes to Completed when the migration has successfully completed. If, for any reason, the migration encounters an issue, the status will change to Failed, and Showpad Support will investigate and contact you.

   Note: If a migration fails, the legacy SharePoint Connector is automatically disabled for that Library. Do not re-enable the connection in the legacy SharePoint Connector. Wait for Showpad Support to advise you. 

7. Once the migration status is Completed, you can enable the connection in Showpad. Enabling the connection initiates a sync that ensures all asset metadata and binary data in Showpad reflect the current state of the source files in SharePoint.

   

Skip migration

1. Select a Site/Library and click the three dot menu, then Skip migration.
2. Once selected, the Status will display Skipped.

Tip: If you later decide to migrate the connection, the Prepare Migration dropdown is still available.
