Share and track a live report link Updated October 07, 2026 07:00 A live report link gives your prospect an interactive, branded report experience. Unlike a PDF, the link always reflects the current calculation values, so as the conversation develops and you update the calculation, the prospect's view stays current as well. If you share multiple links for the same calculation, each is tracked separately. After you share, Activity Tracking shows when the prospect opened the link and how they engaged with it, so you can time your follow-up conversations. Activity Tracking covers live links only. For PDF engagement, use Showpad's asset and Shared Space analytics alongside it. If live link sharing is not available for your account, use a PDF instead or contact your administrator. Do this step by step Create a live report link Navigate to the Content tab and select Experiences. Choose the relevant Experience. In Past Calculations, select a calculation and click the Share icon, then select the Share Link option. Click Create New Link. In the Create Sharing Link dialog: Choose a Permission Level: Controls what the prospect can do with the report. View: The prospect can read the report but cannot change any inputs. View & Edit: The prospect can adjust inputs and explore different scenarios. Their changes affect only their own session and do not update your saved calculation. If a permission level is not available, the value model may not support it. Contact your administrator. Choose an available report template. Enter a Label so you can identify the link in Activity Tracking later. Share via Email (optional): Enter one or more recipient email addresses to send the link automatically when you click Generate Link. Leave this empty to generate the link without sending it, so you can review it and share it manually when ready. Click Generate Link. You return to Manage Links And Recipients, where the new link now appears in the list. Click the copy icon next to the link to copy the generated URL. Open the link yourself before sending it. Confirm the report content, prospect context, branding, and access behavior are correct. Share the generated link through an approved channel (email, Shared Space, or a channel your organization uses for prospect communication). If you're sharing through a Shared Space, add the link as a URL item so prospects can open it alongside other content. See Use Showpad Value Factory in Shared Spaces. Back to top Track engagement Navigate to the Content tab and select Experiences. Choose the relevant Experience. In Past Calculations, select a calculation and click the Share icon. Select Share Link to open Manage Links And Recipients. The Activity column gives you a quick status for each link: Active means the link has been opened; No Activity means it hasn't been opened yet. To see full engagement detail, click the Share icon again and select Activity Tracking. Review the visit log for the calculation. Each row represents one link open and shows the time, link name, report template, permission level, the visitor's approximate location (city, region, country), and IP address.Use the link name to identify which link was opened and when. If you created one link per recipient, a unique link open is likely that recipient, but a forwarded copy may have been opened by someone else. IP address and approximate location can help distinguish between visits but do not verify a person's identity. Use engagement as context for your next conversation, not as a definitive signal: multiple opens may indicate internal review, and a single visit does not confirm the prospect reviewed the full report. Back to top Troubleshooting Issue Solution A link can't be created Your account may not have the permission required for live link sharing. Use a PDF snapshot instead, or contact your administrator. A recipient can't open the link Open the exact URL in a private browser window to test it. Confirm you copied the full link without shortening or truncating it. Check whether the link has an expiry date [confirm if applicable]. The report looks different for the prospect than it does for you The link shows the report using the prospect-facing branding and permission configured for your organization. Review the template settings with your administrator if the difference is unexpected. A report section doesn't render in the link Try another available template. If the issue is consistent, send the calculation and template name to your administrator. Activity Tracking shows no activity for a link you sent Confirm the recipient received and opened the correct tracked report link. A forwarded link can still record activity if the recipient uses the original tracked URL, and a shortened link may redirect to the same URL. If the link was forwarded, activity may have been recorded by someone other than the intended recipient. Activity data looks incomplete Confirm the link hasn't expired [if expiry is applicable]. Check whether the prospect may have used a different link for the same calculation. Activity Tracking is not available for a calculation Confirm the calculation has at least one shared live report link. If the Share option isn't available, live link sharing may not be enabled for your account. Contact your administrator. Related articles Create a calculation Access Showpad Value Factory in Showpad
