Create and edit Genie Assistant agents Updated March 11, 2026 08:00 Genie Assistant is your revenue team's AI assistant for answering product questions, finding the perfect content, and drafting customer communications, all grounded in your trusted Showpad content. Specialized agents allow you to tailor Genie Assistant for specific teams, use cases, or content libraries. While global instructions provide a baseline, custom agents let you define unique personas and restrict Genie’s knowledge to specific folders, tags, or Experiences. This ensures your sellers get the most relevant support for their specific workflows. Do this step by step Building a custom agent involves defining its identity, selecting its available tools, and setting the boundaries of its content library. Note: Creating new specialized agents requires the Expert AI Bundle. On the Professional and Advanced tiers, you can use these steps to edit your included default agents (such as the Company content agent). In the Admin App, click the gear icon, then select Genie from the left-hand menu. In the Agents section, click the plus icon to open the agent builder. Alternatively, to edit an existing agent, click the three dot menu next to it and select Edit. In the Basic info section, provide the following: Name: A clear title for the agent (e.g., "CT Product Expert"). Sellers will see this below the message field. Description: Explain the agent's specialty so sellers know when to select it. Agent instructions: Enter specific guidelines for behavior and tone. This works alongside the Genie Assistant’s global instructions. Tip: To help Genie understand the hierarchy and priority of your instructions, you can format them using Markdown. Expand the Tools section to enable advanced capabilities: LLM general knowledge: Toggle on to allow Genie to use its pre-trained knowledge if internal content is insufficient. Web search: Toggle on to allow Genie to search the open internet. To restrict Genie’s search to specific sites, list them in the Allowed Sites field. Note: The web search tool is exclusive to the Advanced and Expert AI Bundle tiers. Toggle on the Content section to define the agent's knowledge base. Sharing: Toggle this on to allow Genie to use information from files and Pages that are set as unshareable. Note: Be aware that information from unshareable sources may be used to draft content shared with buyers. Boost: Use this section to prioritize specific content. Click the plus icon, then select criteria like Tags, Location (Experience, folder, asset), or Recency to rank matching files and Pages higher in the results. Select a Boost strength for each criterion. We recommend starting with a Boost strength of Medium. To reduce the relevance ranking of your selected criteria, select a Boost strength of Negative. Filter: Use this section to strictly include or exclude content. Select a property (e.g., Content type, Date, or Tags). Use group operators (And, Or, Not) to build complex logic. Click Preview to see what content search results look like after applying configuration to sharing, boosts, and filters. Click Save at the top of the page when done.
