Assign managers to groups and direct managers to users Updated November 27, 2025 16:48 The one consistency in growing organizations is how much they change. Utilize two different types of managers in Showpad to best suit your needs as an administrator.Manager (or group manager): Oversees entire user groups and can view progress and data for all members within those groups. This role is available to organizations using Coach. For PitchIQ or test reviews, the system assigns the group manager rather than a direct manager to oversee these activities.Direct manager: Assigned to specific individual users rather than groups, allowing them to view and compare data across direct reports who may belong to different user groups. Direct managers can view and manage their direct reports' Shared Spaces. Each user can have only one direct manager at a time, though this assignment can be updated as needed.Key difference: Group managers oversee entire groups, while direct managers have one-to-one relationships with individual users regardless of group membership.See how it looksKey featuresAssign the role of manager to a userAssign users in a group to a single managerUtilize a direct manager for individual usersYou need this to succeedPlan: eOS Expert, eOS Advanced, eOS ProfessionalLegacy plan: Showpad Coach Essential, Showpad Content Essential, or higherPermissions: AdministratorConfig: Any user can be assigned as a Direct ManagerThe quick wayNavigate to UsersClick the pencil icon in a user's detail panel in the User role field Set or change the User role to Manager and assign them a user groupOptionally, assign a Direct manager to the userDo this step by stepAssign groups to a managerLog in to the Admin App and navigate to Users.Click the user you want to make a group manager to open their detail panel.Hover over the User role field and click the pencil icon.
