    Showpad Glossary

    icon-glossary.svg   Some basic terminology is very valuable when you're starting with Showpad. Here's an alphabetical summary of the language we often use to make your Showpad experience as effortless as possible. This helpful glossary can explain our great features in just a few words for administrators and users who are already familiar with our products. 

     

     

    Name Description
    Activities Showpad's reporting functionality in the Admin App providing administrators insight into how prospects interact with shared content from your organization.
    Admin App The Showpad admin experience. The Admin App is a powerful tool for managing content and settings. It streamlines processes, simplifies training, and provides clear, centralized reporting.
    Admin Email Digest A weekly email update sent to admins that shows an overview of content and user trends. 
    Administrator A content and user administrator, for Showpad, usually from the marketing department, who imports and updates presentable files for sales reps. 
    An administrator also manages users, sends out Announcements, and consults advanced analytics.
    Advanced dynamic link Advanced dynamic links automatically populate sender and recipient details. This option is ideal for platforms like Marketo and Outreach, enabling automatic content sharing through email templates, campaigns, and sequences.

    AI-powered Asset FAQs

     

    		 This feature provides an additional section in a file's detail panel, offering users an file summary in the form of questions and answers.
    AI-powered Descriptions This feature leverages AI to automatically generate and suggest descriptive summaries for files, enhancing efficiency and ease of use.

    AI-powered Filename Compliance

    		 This feature harnesses AI to suggest file names aligned with your predefined guidelines and naming conventions.

    AI-powered Keywords

     

    		 This feature utilizes AI to generate relevant keywords for files, streamlining organization and searchability.
    AI-powered Message Composer This feature enables users to leverage AI to generate, edit, or enhance their writing with ease.
    AI-powered Page Builder This feature empowers users to leverage AI to create Pages effortlessly.
    AI-powered Tag Translations This feature enables users to harness AI to generate translations for Tags seamlessly.
    AI-powered Video Captions This feature leverages AI to automatically generate captions for video files, enhancing accessibility and convenience.
    AnalyticsIQ AI-assistance that allows admins to ask questions regarding the data on their Analytics dashboards and get answers with text summaries and visuals. 
    Analytics Export App A powerful tool in the Admin App that enables admins to extract Showpad data so organizations can optimize their sales and marketing efforts and drive better business outcomes with advanced analysis.
    Android app The Showpad app is available for use across Android devices such as a Samsung Galaxy tablet or Google Pixel phone.
    Annotations A user's ability to add comments to a file after it is uploaded into Showpad using text or emphasize certain areas with a highlighter or pen tool
    Announcements Administrators can push messages with important information updates to users. If enabled on their device, users see this Announcement in a notification.
    API Explorer Showpad's tool to assist developers on how to most efficiently utilize and interact with our RESTful client-server API.
    App link Unique URLs to content that can be used to direct from another document or mobile app.
    asset A single piece of shareable collateral, including files (PDF, video, image), Pages, and URL assets.
    Asset comments Comments that users can leave on specific assets, visible to admins in the Admin App.
    Asset Connect Syncs assets from DAM or other systems to Showpad by connecting via our public API.
    Asset detail panel The information that can be viewed and edited in the Admin App when you click on an asset or group of assets
    Asset Viewer The Asset Viewer is used every time a Showpad user opens an asset from an Experience, Collection, My Files, etc.
    Atom Experience This interactive Showpad Experience can be used to analyze prospects' needs. With the Atom experience, sales reps can present their content visually and dynamically.
    Augmented Reality (AR) 3D assets placed in an interactive experience of a real-world environment and presented in Showpad.
    Automated Content Builder app A powerful Showpad app that empowers sellers to tailor documents and presentations to prospects' context and industry-specific needs, fostering more meaningful interactions and saving valuable time.
    Automated Provisioning A configuration that automates the task of creating and/or editing Showpad users.
    Automation Rules This feature allows admins to automate tasks, such as applying permissions to new files and granting access to content, once users complete Courses.
    Avatars A pre-selected image that appears on the Web App and iOS app when a user is logged in
    Bookmark A tool where learners can flag certain lessons and easily revisit them.
    Bulk editing The ability to edit multiple files, Pages, users, or user groups simultaneously
    Certification Emails that can be sent to learners showing an official sign of completion.
    Classic Experience An Experience organizes content in a structured and branded design. This content can be grouped by using folders and Smart Folders.
    Cloud storage sync A connection between Showpad and certain cloud repositories that syncs content to Showpad automatically.
    Courses Library The section in Showpad's Admin App where you can view all your Courses and Paths, including their metadata and properties, create new Courses or Paths, and more. 
    Collection A personalized compilation of marketing-approved content that users can organize and present based on their prospects.
    Comments The ability for users to leave feedback on assets for other users or Administrators to view.
    Competency The knowledge, skills, and process expertise required to perform a role defined by an administrator.
    Contacts Users can sync contacts from other platforms and manually add them in Showpad. Furthermore, administrators have access and can export these contacts from the Admin App.
    Content All files you upload as an administrator and all files you share as a rep can be described as content in Showpad.
    Content Analytics Showpad's reporting functionality in the Admin App allows admins to gain insight into how content is being used by sales reps in your organization.
    Content Author An admin who manages and owns certain files and Pages.
    Content Library The section in Showpad's Admin App where you upload your files and add corresponding properties, tags, and permissions. 
    Content Profiles Tailored content specific to users based on various factors, including language and location.
    Content tab Where all marketing and user-created content is found on the front end of Showpad.
    Course The combination of content, assessments, and pitch assignments that make up your learning tool.
    Course notes An area where learners can type and save notes related to the course they are taking.
    Cover images An alternative to a background or logo, these images allow for great visual appeal by dynamically resizing and allowing a chosen focal point to better show available Experiences in the Showpad app.
    Curriculum A combination of multiple courses, typically encompassing a specific subject matter. Only available for admins in the Admin App.
    Custom Homepages Similar to the default Home page, admins can create customized home screens tailored towards specific user groups. Custom Homepages can include a mix of files, Experiences, Pages, images, and more, but do not support Spotlights or Recommendations. Users will see their Custom Homepage when logging in on the Web App, Windows Desktop app, or iOS app.
    Dashboard The main screen you see when signing in as an administrator in Showpad's Admin App. It shows widgets where you instantly see relevant statistics about content and app usage.
    Default View The option to view content in an Experience in Grid view or List view. The default view is set by the admin in the Experience Builder, but users can toggle between both options.
    Developer Portal Similar to the Help Center, a place for developers to gather code and instructions written by developers
    Direct Manager A role assigned by an admin that grants manager permissions between individual users.
    Division An organization can be structured in different regions. The content and corresponding users in those regions can be managed independently from one another. You can easily configure and control this structure by using divisions.
    Email Templates Email body content created by admins, comprised of text snippets and content that users can easily insert into their email shares.
    Embedded media playback for PPT The ability to playback media files added to a PowerPoint file in Showpad. Playback will occur with the play settings configured in Powerpoint.
    Experience Apps The ability to upload custom sales applications created by your developers into Showpad.
    Experience Builder Create and update Experiences in the Experience Builder section. Add designs, customized folders, and sharing themes to your Experiences. You can control which users and which user groups have access to particular Experiences.
    Experiences Showpad Experiences are a guided and interactive way to organize content for your sales reps. These interactive Experiences can create engaging conversations with prospects and customers.
    File property Determine what you can do with particular content by changing the file properties in the Content Library. Share permissions, tags, and expiry dates are examples of these properties.
    File type The formats of content that Showpad supports.
    Filter A customizable tool within the Content Library allowing admins to find specific content quickly and easily.
    Folder A traditional folder where content can be organized manually within Experiences and Divisions.
    GDPR General Data Protection Regulation. This requirement strengthens data protection for all persons in the European Union.
    Global Pages The Global Page permission makes Pages visible across all Libraries. When accessed from a different Library, the Page will be read-only. Files and Pages within it will still be visible, but certain content types, like Courses and Experiences, won’t appear. If the Page is used as a template, only Global files and tags can be edited.
    Global permissions When content has global permissions, administrators can use these files from a global Division in the Experiences of other divisions.
    Global theme The Global theme is a Sharing Theme that can be applied across all Experiences and Divisions.
    Google Drive integration Connection between an organization's Google Drive content and Showpad.
    Help Center A dedicated area for articles, instructions, and community posts about all things Showpad
    Highlights A tab where learners can view the highest-rated and most-viewed pitches, along with their own submissions.
    Hold invitation emails  Disabling invitation emails until you are ready while you set up Experiences and add users.
    Home Screen The page a user is brought to upon login which contains recommendations and Spotlight messages.
    In-app Viewers The recorded number of unique in-app viewers.
    In-app Views Each time a user views a piece of content in the Showpad app, an in-app view is recorded.
    Invitation email An email sent automatically when an administrator creates a user. It provides information on how and where to log in to Showpad.
    iOS app The Showpad app is available for use across iOS devices, such as iPads and iPhones.
    Kiosk Mode A presentation mode on the Showpad app that disables most functionality while allowing viewers to scan through content without compromising confidential data.
    LibraryIQ An AI-powered assistant for the Content Library, which suggests actions to improve the organization and distribution of files and Pages.
    Like content Sales reps can like pieces of content as a way to group their content.
    Locale Language and location designations specific to individual files and Pages that can be edited in the Content Library.
    Localization The process of adapting content to meet the cultural, linguistic, and legal requirements of a target market. Localized asset variants can be managed in the Localization tab of the asset's detail panel in the Content Library.
    Manager A role that grants certain admin permissions, specifically the ability to watch and grade pitch submissions for certain learners.
    Mapper Experience The Mapper Experience lets you visually map products and services. Highlight specific products and features in a visually recognizable environment to make sales conversations interactive.
    Marketo integration A one-way communication that feeds Showpad data into your Marketo account for better marketing automation.
    Metrics Customizable grading criteria configured by admins for assessing pitch submissions.
    Microsoft Dynamics app Showpad's integration that allows an organization to view their Showpad activity within their MS Dynamics platform.
    Mobile Device Management Configuration (MDM) IT teams can manage applications on users' mobile devices across multiple providers. You can use our configuration to deploy Showpad on multiple devices simultaneously.
    Module The three optional components that make up a Course: Learn, Test/Survey, and PitchIQ
    My Assignments The tab where users can find all of their required Courses and Paths.
    My Files A place where sales reps can upload their own content for sharing. The content is still trackable but not viewable by administrators.
    My Team hub The section in Showpad where managers can view their team's Course progress and various user insights.
    Navigation Analytics A visual mapping feature in the Admin App showing all sales paths on Atom and Mapper Experiences. It also provides reporting on the most common Paths.
    Next Steps A collaborative, adjustable Mutual Action Plan in Shared Spaces that outlines milestones, actions, and due dates required to complete the buying process.
    Office 365 integration The ability for Office Online users to edit PowerPoint, Excel, or Word files and have them automatically updated in Showpad.
    Offline search The ability to search for content without a connection that was made available offline in the Windows Desktop app.
    Online Platform (OP) The legacy administrator portal of Showpad where admins could manage content and users, view analytics, send Announcements, and configure additional features and integrations.
    Outlook 365 plugin A plugin that allows you to share Showpad content via email with your online Outlook 365 account.
    Outlook Add-In An integration where users can share Showpad content directly from within their native Outlook account on their Windows device when composing an email.
    Outreach integration Using the Showpad for Gmail plugin, you can include Showpad content as dynamic links in email templates and sequences
    Owner This is the first person who was created while generating the Showpad organization. The owner has administrator access to all areas of the Admin App. Ownership changes must be requested to your organization's Customer Success Coach.
    Page locking A feature that allows admins to control whether certain pages of a document must be shared together.
    Pages Customizable landing Pages with grouped content related to a topic or persona. 
    Passcode lock Secure access to your Showpad mobile apps. 
    Path An organized list of tasks and Courses assigned to users.
    Personalization Analytics The tracking of all edited versions of a marketing-generated asset in the Admin App.
    Picture-in-Picture A mini player that opens in a new window when enabled on videos.
    PitchAI AI tool to receive immediate and actionable feedback on the pitches practiced with PitchIQ.
    PitchIQ A tool to practice and receive feedback on recorded pitches in Showpad Coach.
    PitchIQ breakdown

    The filter that allows you to see the status of your users' Pitch

    IQ submissions.
    PitchIQ panel The group of admins and managers tasked with reviewing and grading pitches.
    Present mode An option is available in the Asset Viewer to open present mode, where a separate window that includes speaker notes and other tools will open. Sellers can screen share just the Showpad tab and have their present window separate to aid their presentation. 
    Processing The act of compressing files upon upload to Showpad so they can be easily viewed without occupying too much space on a user's device.
    Promoted Member A Promoted Member is a regular user in a division who is granted additional permissions. These permissions allow them to set up and configure the content structure, users and user groups, tags, and filters.
    Push notifications A feature where notifications can be pushed to a mobile device immediately.
    Question breakdown Filter that shows granular details for specific questions in a Course.
    Quick Actions Plug-and-play integrations added to a Shared Space, enabling streamlined collaboration, enhanced productivity, and increased momentum.
    Recommendations Relevant content that is shown on the Home Screen when a user logs in.
    Report Builder A feature in the Admin App that allows admins to create and export custom reports.
    Reports - Coach The section in the Admin App where admins can see insights into users, Paths, and Courses.
    Reports - Content The section in the Admin App where administrators can generate content and user reports based on different criteria.
    Resource Center A centralized hub in the Admin App providing admins and Promoted Members in-product access to the Showpad Help Center, latest release updates, and instant access to Support and additional resources.
    Reusable Sections in Pages Reusable Sections are centrally managed content blocks that can be saved and reused across multiple Pages.
    Salesforce Community Integration Showpad's ability to connect with Salesforce Communities to track activity within an organization's Salesforce account. The same benefits as the regular Salesforce integration.
    Salesforce Contacts The ability to sync Salesforce contacts to Showpad and log activity in Showpad back to those contacts in Salesforce.
    Salesforce Content Recommendations  A Showpad feature that recommends content to sales reps in Salesforce, based on deal data and pre-configured rules. 
    Salesforce Content ROI A dashboard in Salesforce that allows marketers and sales reps to see which content leads to deals by incorporating Showpad data into their Salesforce account. 
    Salesforce integration Showpad's ability to connect with the Salesforce CRM to track activity within an organization's Salesforce account.
    Salesforce Meetings The ability to log all activity within a meeting time frame to Salesforce.
    Salesforce Web tab A tab in your Salesforce account where users can easily access their courses and/or content.

    Salesforce Shares

    		 This allows users to view Share data within their Salesforce instance. 

    Salesloft integration

    		 A connection where one can generate unique URLs to share as assets in the SalesloftShowpad app for Salesloft.
    SAP Sales Cloud (previously C4C) integration A connection between SAP Sales Cloud (previously C4C - Cloud for Customers) and Showpad that allows sharing activities to be viewed in a SAP Sales Cloud account.

    SCIM

    		 The System for Cross-domain Identity Management is a standard that automates the exchange of user identities across domains.

    Scorecard

    		 A report card that allows admins to see quick data on assets and tags and compare them to one another. Accessible through the question-based analytics dashboard in the details table. 
    Search The name says it all - this is the tool used to locate content using various filter options to make finding desired content quick and easy.
    Search in video The ability to search for videos based on the automatic audio transcription provided via Google API.
    Selector Experience An interactive experience that instantly filters content based on criteria selected during a sales conversation. This dynamic Experience narrows down what prospects want in just a few taps.
    Sending domains You can set up shares to show as coming from your domain instead of the default sharing@showpad.com address. This is accomplished by sending domains, a form of email authentication used to verify a sender's identity. 
    Share The term used for content that has been sent to prospects. A Share has its activity tracked to determine the most useful content for deals.
    Shared Content Viewer When a prospect opens the shared content, it is presented in a branded environment, called the Shared Content Viewer. These environments are created by administrators by building Sharing Themes.
    Shared Spaces A secure and collaborative space for users to invite external and internal people to view content, provide comments, and engage all stakeholders in the sales process.
    Shared Spaces Management Dashboard A centralized overview for either admins or managers to effectively monitor engagement, manage ownership, and gain insights into Shared Spaces.
    Shared Space Templates Admin-created frameworks, pre-filled with scenario-specific content, to help users create on-brand Shared Spaces.
    SharePoint Online Connector A middleware connector that allows the syncing of content and its properties from SharePoint Online to the Showpad Content Library. 
    Sharing Theme A customizable design to match your branding when prospects view Shares in the Shared Content Viewer.
    Showpad Apps Custom sales applications and integrations tailored to meet your specific needs and brand.
    Showpad Edit A middleware tool that allows users to edit PowerPoint, Excel, and Word files on their devices without altering the original version.
    Showpad for Gmail A Chrome browser extension that supports sharing Showpad content via Gmail.
    Showpad for Salesforce A downloaded app allowing users to see all Showpad activity logged as Insights information in Salesforce
    Showpad sync When enabled, Courses can be accessed through Showpad as URL assets. 
    Showpad Video A messaging tool that allows users to record and share videos within the platform
    ShowQL Showpad Query Language (ShowQL). A powerful and user-friendly query language to define sophisticated criteria and retrieve content from the Showpad Library. Accessed with the Advanced filter.
    Simple links Generate a URL to your Share that can be copied and pasted anywhere, including messaging tools of your choice.
    Single Sign-On (SSO) Functionality allowing users and admins to securely log in to Showpad by using a central Identity Provider.
    Slide-level analytics The option to view analytics by page, slide, or set of pages within a larger document.
    Slideshow mode A basic feature that allows a user to turn on a slideshow (with or without a timer) of multiple files within a folder
    Smart Folder A feature within Showpad where administrators can configure folders to automatically pull particular content with specified file properties. These criteria can be file types, specific tags, and Division sources.
    Social A setting that allows learners to comment and collaborate with other learners in a course.
    Speaker notes Talking points and notes that help sellers know what to say throughout their presentation. Speaker notes are available in present mode, and are not visible to recipients while screen sharing.
    Spotlight An announcement on a user's Home Screen that directs them to certain content and messaging.
    Sticky swiping Allows you to do a quick swipe to navigate through pages of a multi-page document. To move on to the next file, you will need to do a full swipe.
    Subdomain Another term for your organization used in your instance's URL before showpad.biz.
    Tag A label that admins can create and add to content to make it easier to manage, find, and organize, particularly with Smart Folders.
    Tag Categories Grouping of tags to help keep them organized.
    Tag (External) A tag created automatically outside of Showpad through an external integration. Those tags are not editable.
    Tag (Local) A tag created by an admin.
    Tag (Shared) A tag that appears on files and Pages shared across Divisions.
    Task Required exercises for learners outside of the standard Course assignments.
    URL assets A link that acts as any other file, in that it can be shared with prospects and have its activity logged.
    User Users are typically sellers who present content with the Showpad app on their mobile device. These are the primary users of the Showpad front-end, who share content with customers and prospects.
    User analytics  Showpad's reporting functionality in the Admin App that allows administrators insight into how and in what ways their users put Showpad to use.
    User Content Analytics Insights and tracking data for personalized content uploaded by sales reps.
    User group  A way to organize users in the Admin App. Groups allow you to control which Divisions and Experiences users have access to.
    User insights Shows Course progress when clicking into a specific Course.
    Web App The browser version of Showpad. Users can open the Web App on their laptop or computer to share content and to view sharing reports.
    Webhooks A tool that triggers specific actions based on certain events (content shared, viewed, or reshared, created Shared Spaces, user added to a Shared Space, and Courses that have been completed).
    Windows Desktop App The Showpad Windows App uses browser technology and functions similarly to the Web App but allows for some offline capabilities.
