    Translate tags and tag categories with Showpad AI

    Globalization has made working with teams in other countries a normal occurrence. This can make organizing information across different countries with many languages challenging. Showpad AI is here to help. When enabled, AI-powered Tag Translations will use the languages defined in your Showpad instance to automatically generate and apply translations to all your tags and tag categories.

    Translations for your tags and tag categories enable you to establish a consistent taxonomy throughout your organization, streamlining content management processes and enhancing the browsing and searching experience for Showpad users.

    Note: The AI-generated translation of tags and categories works properly when the primary tags are in English.

    You can enable Showpad AI to automatically translate your tags and tag categories from English into any of the following 18 available languages:

    Chinese (simplified) French (Canadian) Norwegian (Bokmål) Spanish
    Czech German Polish Swedish
    Danish Italian Portuguese (Portugal) Turkish
    English Japanese Portuguese (Brazil)
    French Korean Russian

    The quick way

    1. Enable AI-powered Tag Translations via the AI-powered Features page in Admin Settings.
    2. Create tags and tag categories.
    3. In the Translations section of a tag or tag category detail panel, adjust available translations if necessary.

    Do this step by step

    Enable translations

      1. Navigate to Settings in the Admin App and select AI-powered Features from the left menu.
      2. Enable the AI-powered Tag Translations feature. By default, this is disabled for all users. Then click the feature name to view your options.
      3. Click the User access tab to select if you wish to enable the feature for:
        • All: This will enable the feature for all users.
        • Selected: This will enable the feature for specific user groups. Check the user groups for which you want AI tag translation enabled. If you have many groups, you can quickly find them by typing in the Select field.
      4. Click the Enabled Languages tab to enable supported languages. By default, all languages are enabled. 
      5. Enter a preferred language and check the box to select it. Select all languages for tag translation.
      6. Click Save.

    When your users set their preferred language in the Web App, Windows Desktop App, iOS, or Android, they'll view tags and tag categories in their selected language.

    Update translations for individual tags and tag categories

    Tags

    1. Navigate to the Libraries tab in the Admin App.
    2. If your organization uses multiple Divisions, select the desired Division from the top-left dropdown menu.
    3. In the Tags section of the left menu, select Tags to open the Tags library.
    4. Click on a tag to open the tag detail panel.
    5. Expand the Translations section to view the Showpad AI-generated translations.
    6. Click a language to edit the translation.
    7. From here, you can:
      • Replace one or more translations by entering new ones.
      • Disable the translations by toggling the switch. You can disable all or individual translations. When a translation is disabled, the tag will appear in the default language.
    8. Click Save changes.

    Tag categories

    1. Navigate to the Libraries tab in the Admin App.
    2. If your organization uses multiple Divisions, select the desired Division from the top-left dropdown menu.
    3. In the Tags section of the left menu, select Categories to open the Categories library.
    4. Select a tag category by clicking on its row. This opens the category detail panel.
    5. Expand the Translations section to view the Showpad AI-generated translations.
    6. Click a language to edit the translation.
    7. From here, you can:
      • Replace one or more translations by entering new ones.
      • Disable the translations by toggling the switch. You can disable all or individual translations. When a translation is disabled, the tag will appear in the default language.
    8. Click Save changes.
