Supported file types Updated February 05, 2025 19:51 Showpad supports various file types that can be uploaded to the Files library in the Admin App and used across the platform. Note: These file types also apply to personal content users upload in My Files. While the files listed below can be displayed within Showpad, they cannot be edited directly on the platform. See how it looks The list of supported file types File Type Description Recommended Size Office documents PowerPoint presentations (PPT, PPTX, PPS, PPSX) Excel spreadsheets (XLS, XLSX, XLSM) Word documents (DOC, DOCX) Rendered as a PDF when the file is under 500MB. Downloaded as a file when over 500MB. Native Office apps are needed to open original file formats. Animations and links may not display correctly. Macros in Excel files are not supported. 500MB iWork documents Keynote (KEY), Pages (PAGES), Numbers (NUMBERS) iOS devices can open these files without additional apps. Android, Windows, and Web App cannot generate PDF previews. Consider converting to PDF before uploading to make sure the content is viewable on all devices. 2GB Adobe PDF documents U3D encoding for 3D-related PDFs is not supported. 2GB Google native files Files imported from Google Drive are converted to MS Office formats: GSLIDES to PPTX, GSHEETS to XLSX, GDOCS to DOCX N/A Text and rich-text files TXT, RTF Convert to PDF before uploading for compatibility across platforms. Without conversion, users will only have the option to download the file, not view it in Showpad. 2GB Audio files MP3, M4A, WAV Compressed Windows Media Audio (WMA) files are supported only on Windows devices. 2GB Photos JPG, JPEG, PNG Supported for photos, drawings, or graphs. 3GB GIFs GIF Animated GIFs are only supported in Advanced Experiences for logo uploads in the design tab. 4MB Videos MOV, WMV, MP4, M4V, 3GP, MPG, MPEG, AVI, ASF, FLV, MKV Some video formats are platform-specific (e.g., MOV files may not play on Android). DivX (AVI) codecs are not supported. 4GB 3D and HTML5 apps ZIP Use ZIP files to upload web apps or 3D assets (e.g., DAE). 4GB Hyperlinks You can add URLs as assets in the Files library. N/A Other documents DWG, DXF, STL, IGES, STEP, STP, EPUB, IBOOKS, RVT, RFA, CAD, SCORM Files can be stored but not opened natively. External apps are required to open these file types.
