Create a Custom Homepage and add content Updated September 27, 2024 07:10 Showpad's Homepages feature enables you to create attractive and engaging Custom Homepages. You can assemble content collections specifically curated for what you want your sellers to view upon login. When creating a Homepage, you can add numerous content blocks to the canvas, including headings, text, image galleries, Showpad assets, and Experiences. Note: Custom Homepages are unavailable on Android. If you want to design a more personalized experience for Android users, learn more about Spotlights here. See how it works You need this to succeed A Showpad admin account or a promoted user account with 'Manage Content' permission Users utilizing Showpad through WebApp or iOS device Available for Showpad Coach, Content, and Platform users Showpad Content or Coach Plus or Ultimate Package The quick way to awesomeness Go to Library Select the Homepages tab Create a new Homepage Add the desired content blocks Do this step by step Create a Custom Homepage Add content blocks to your Homepage: Heading Table of Contents Text Gallery Assets Pages Experiences Courses Spacers Buttons Videos Create a Custom Homepage Log in to the Online Platform. Navigate to the Library tab. If your organization has separate Divisions, choose a Division. Select the Hompages tab and click Create New Homepage. Name the Homepage and click Create. To add content blocks to your Homepage, drag and drop them onto the canvas. Lines will appear indicating where you can place blocks—above, below, or alongside existing ones. You can create up to four columns wide of content blocks, but you cannot resize the width of the blocks.You can create a new section or add the block to an existing one. These sections will be used to style your Homepage. Note: The maximum page width is 1100px, and the maximum margin size is 250px on each side. Click the Preview options anytime while creating the Custom Homepage to see how the Homepage will look to assigned users. If you have users on iOS, it's important to use the Phone and Tablet preview options to ensure your Custom Homepage views well on all platforms. Once you're done, click Edit to resume creating your Homepage. Back to Top Add content blocks to your Homepage While working on your Custom Homepage, remember to click Save to preserve your changes. On Homepages already distributed to users, saved changes will be automatically available to them. Select the content block you'd like to learn more about. Heading Table of Contents Text Gallery Assets Pages Experiences Courses Spacers Buttons Videos Heading Add headings to the sections of your Homepage to help your sellers identify the content they need. You can link to a heading from a button, gallery image, and text. Adding headings is the first step in creating a clickable table of contents for your Homepage. Drag the Heading block onto the Homepage canvas and add it to the content section you wish to highlight. If it is already on the Homepage, click the block to open the edit panel. Give the heading a title in the Heading Text field. To choose to add an Icon to the Heading block, toggle the setting on, then drag and drop or browse for your icon to upload. The icon is positioned to the left of the heading text. Customize the heading style by setting the Level, Text color, Font type, Font size, and Alignment. Your admin defines the available font types. To save time, click Duplicate to copy the heading block. Drag and drop the duplicated block to another section of the Homepage. Adjust the content and style as needed. Back to Top Table of Contents Make your Homepage navigable and engaging by adding one or more tables of content. The Table of Contents block is a clickable list of the headings on your Homepage. Clicking on a heading in the table of contents will scroll to the designated section on the Homepage. Drag the Table Of Contents block to where you would like it to appear on the Homepage. If it is already on the Homepage, click the block to open the edit panel. A list of the Heading blocks appears as a table of contents. The list is in the order in which the headings appear on the Homepage from top to bottom. The Level style you set when editing a heading determines its list level (indentation) in the table of contents. Click the eye next to a heading to hide it from the table of contents. Customize the link style. When displaying the table of contents vertically, you can decide to show or hide bullet points. If you display it horizontally, you can show or hide separators between the links. Enhance the appearance by setting the Text color, Font type, and Font size. Your admin defines the available font types. To save time, click Duplicate to copy the Table of Contents block. Drag and drop the duplicated block to another section of your Homepage. Adjust the content and style as needed. Back to Top Text To add written content, drag the Text block to where you would like it to appear on the Homepage. If it is already on the Homepage, click the block to open the edit panel. In the editor, type what you want to write in your Text block. It will automatically populate on the Homepage. Use the rich text editor to enhance the appearance. Choose the Font type, Font size, style, color, and alignment. You can also create bulleted or numbered lists and remove the formatting. Your admin defines the available font types. To add a text link, highlight the desired text and click the link icon. Set the Display Text and select the Link Type. URL: Select the protocol and enter the URL E-mail: Enter the E-Mail Address, Message Subject, and Message Body Heading: Select a Heading block on the Homepage. To save time, click Duplicate to copy the Text block. Drag and drop the duplicated block to another section of your Homepage. Adjust the content and style as needed. Back to Top Gallery Drag the Gallery block to where you would like it to appear on the Homepage. If it is already on the Homepage, click the block to open the edit panel. In the Content section, drag and drop or browse to upload images to the gallery. In the Design section, check Fit to block if you want your images to zoom in to fit the block. Depending on the image block size and the size of the image, it may be cropped when selecting Fit to block. Choose if you want margins around the images. Remember that the image gallery will not expand beyond the Homepage's maximum width of 1100px, even if no margins are selected. You can choose to Show Thumbnails if you upload multiple images. If selected, users can navigate between thumbnails of the images in the gallery. Drag and drop the images in the Content section to set their thumbnail order. You can automatically transition from one image to the next. If selected, a slider appears with the option to choose the duration between transitions in seconds. To edit or delete an image from the gallery, click the edit or trash icon on the image in the Content section. To change the focal point of an image, click the edit icon on the image. Drag the box to your desired focal point. The image to the right shows a preview of the change. To add a link to your image, click the edit icon on the image. You can link an image to an Asset, Page, URL asset, Experience, or Heading. Select the type of content you want to link to from the drop-down menu, then search for and select the content. You can filter your search for an Experience by selecting a Type. You can link to any Heading block on your Homepage. To delete an image from the gallery, click the trash icon on the image. To save time, click Duplicate to copy the Gallery block. Drag and drop the duplicated block to another section of your Homepage. Adjust the content and design as needed. Back to Top Assets Users will gain access to all assets on the Homepage, including assets nested on Pages in the Homepage. Users do not have to be assigned to an Experience containing an asset because they will automatically have access to the asset if it is included on the Homepage. From their Homepage, users can add any asset to a Shared Space. Drag the Assets block to where you would like it to appear on the Homepage. If it is already on the Homepage, click the block to open the edit panel. Add a Title to the block if you'd like. To choose to add an Icon to the asset block, toggle the setting on, then drag and drop or browse for your icon to upload. Under the Content section, you can add content Manually by searching for assets or Dynamically. If you choose Manually, search for the asset you want to include, then select it from the list. It will be added to the section. You can also browse and select assets using various filters by clicking Advanced. Search and filter based on selected File Types, asset properties, Tags, Author, or Source. You can also apply a saved filter.Select the assets you wish to add to the Homepage, then click Insert Items. Alternatively, you can Dynamically filter content by File Type, Property, Tags, Locale, and Source. To fill the content block with only certain file types or asset properties, Click File Type or Property and select them from the list. To Include assets with specific Tags, specify the parameters. Match ALL of these tags: Exclude content that doesn’t have all tags. Match ANY of these tags: Add results that match any single tag. Match NONE of these tags: Choose which content tags to exclude. To Include assets mapped to specific Locales, specify the parameters. Match ALL of these languages and countries: Exclude content that doesn’t include all these locale properties. Match ANY of these languages and countries: Add results that match any single locale property. Match NONE of these languages and countries: Choose which locale properties to exclude. Use the Source filter to narrow where the assets are pulled from by specifying All Libraries, Other Libraries, or the Division Library the Homepage belongs to. To ensure a seamless experience with the Homepage, Limit the number of files per block. Type a number in the box to set the maximum number of assets you wish to populate. Up to 20 files offer the best viewing experience.Remember, if more assets match the dynamic filter than the limit set, the additional assets won't be available to the user. If you do not limit the number of files per block and your dynamic filtering parameters pull more than 500 assets, you'll see a warning advising you to set a lower limit. The list of the content now included in your block can be sorted by various attributes. In the Settings section, you can choose to: Hide the block for your users if the added content is unavailable for them (note that the layout might change, for example, if multiple blocks are next to each other). Display assets in a grid view or list view. To save time, click Duplicate to copy the Assets block. Drag and drop the duplicated block to another section of your Homepage. Adjust the content and settings as needed. Back to Top Pages Users will gain access to any Page added to their Homepage. However, if another Page is nested on the Page on their Homepage, they will need to be assigned that nested Page via an Experience to have access. Drag the Pages block to where you would like it to appear on the Homepage. If it is already on the Homepage, click the block to open the edit panel. You have the same options to set up the Pages block as the Asset block. However, you will be adding Pages. You can add Pages with Dynamic filtering using Tags, Locale, and Source. See asset directions above. Adding an Experience or Page to a Homepage does not mean the user can access that content automatically. Back to Top Experiences Users will not automatically gain access to an Experience that is added to a Homepage. They must be assigned to the Experience through the Experience builder to have access to it on their Homepage. Drag the Experiences block to where you would like it to appear on the Homepage. If it is already on the Homepage, click the block to open the edit panel. Add a Title to the block if you'd like. To choose to add an Icon to the asset block, toggle the setting on, then drag and drop or browse for your icon to upload. In the Content section, select the Type of Experiences you would like to add to the Homepage. This can help filter the available options. Add Experiences by searching and selecting them from the dropdown menu. Then, search and select the Experience folder to display. Choose Root to show the main folder of the Experience. Choose to display the Experiences in a grid or list View. To save time, click Duplicate to copy the Experiences block. Drag and drop the duplicated block to another section of your Homepage. Adjust the content and settings as needed. Back to Top Courses Notes: - Sellers can only see Courses assigned to them from the Coach Library. - Promoted Users must have both the 'Manage Content' and 'Manage Courses & Paths' permissions enabled to create custom Homepages with Courses blocks. Drag the Courses block to where you would like it to appear on the Homepage. If it is already on the Hompage, click the block to open the edit panel. Add a Title to the block if you'd like. To choose to add an Icon to the asset block, toggle the setting on, then drag and drop or browse for your icon to upload. Next, add Courses by searching and selecting them from the dropdown menu. Alternatively, click Advanced to browse and select Courses using filters based on Owners, Groups, and Status. Select the Courses you wish to add to the Homepage, then click Insert items. In the Settings section, you can choose to: Hide the block from users if the added content is unavailable for them. Note that the layout might change, for example, if multiple blocks are next to each other. Display assets in a grid or list View. To save time, click Duplicate to copy the Courses block. Drag and drop the duplicated block to another section of your Homepage. Adjust the content and settings as needed. Back to Top Spacers Add spacers to create white space between content blocks. Drag the Spacer block to where you would like to improve the spacing on the Homepage. Click on the spacer and use the adjuster to change the height. On mobile, spacers are intentionally removed to avoid layout issues. To save time, click Duplicate to copy the Spacer block. Drag and drop the duplicated block to another section of your Homepage. Adjust the height as needed. Back to Top Buttons Use Button blocks to create buttons on the Homepage that link to assets, Pages, URL assets, headings, or Experiences. Drag the Button block to where you would like it to appear on the Homepage. If it is already on the Homepage, click the block to open the edit panel. Type the words that appear on the button in the Button Text field. A short text is preferable to avoid getting cut off when the window width is reduced. Next, link the button to an Asset, Page, URL asset, Experience, or Heading. Select None if you don't want to link the button to anything. Choose the type of content you want to link to from the drop-down menu, then search for and select the content. You can filter your search for an Experience by selecting a Type. You can link to any Heading block on your Homepage. In the Button style section, use the slider to make the button's corners more or less round. Select a Background color, Text color, Font type, and Font size. Set the Button size. You can choose to: Fit the button to the block. Fit the button to text. To widen the button, set the Minimum width. The button can’t be smaller than the text. Choose to align the button Left, Center, or Right within the block. To save time, click Duplicate to copy the Button block. Drag and drop the duplicated block to another section of your Homepage. Adjust the content and style as needed. Note: To add multiple button blocks on the same line, drag and drop your button block to one side of an existing block. Lines will appear, indicating where you can place blocks. You can create up to four columns wide of content blocks, but you cannot resize the width of the blocks. Back to Top Videos Video blocks are used to embed Videos on your Homepage. Drag the Video block to where you would like it to appear on the Hompage. If it is already on the Homepage, click the block to open the edit panel. Select a video from your Showpad library using the video asset dropdown menu. Alternatively, click Advanced to browse and select a video using filters based on File Type, Property, Tags, Locale, Author, and Source. Select the video you wish to add to the Homepage, then click Insert item. Select the Playback options. Check the box to have the video Autoplay, play Muted, or play on a Loop. Browsers do not allow videos to autoplay when sound is enabled, so the video will be automatically Muted if you select Autoplay. The viewer can choose to unmute the video when viewing. To save time, click Duplicate to copy the Video block. Drag and drop the duplicated block to another section of your Homepage. Adjust the content and settings as needed.
