Simplifying the process
At Showpad, we value simplicity and aim to create a platform that encourages ease and flow in day to day selling activities. That’s why, on June 9th, we will be sunsetting the Contacts tab in the Online Platform. This also means that users will no longer be able to add contacts directly into Showpad via their devices. We are announcing this six months in advance of the tab going away in order to give you plenty of time to prepare yourselves and your users for the upcoming change, if they were using the Contacts feature within Showpad. If they were not, very little will change other than the Contacts tab view going away. This will be sunset in an effort to reduce redundancy because in most cases, contacts found on your Android or iOS can be easily synced with Showpad, along with other CRM systems such as Salesforce.
All the contacts that have already been created will remain stored in your Showpad instance. Just type the first few letters when sharing and autofill options will appear. This is a different mechanism than the Contacts tab, one that simply remembers and stores e-mail addresses that have previously been entered. This means that autofill suggestions will continue working for new e-mail recipients entered for Shares after the sunsetting of Contacts. The main impact of this change is that contacts will no longer be created within Showpad. They can be synced to your Showpad instance in other ways. Below, we have put some alternative suggestions for how sync your contacts.
Between now and June 9th 2020, admins and users can prepare for the absence of the Contacts tab in the following ways:
Sync your device contacts with Showpad
If Showpad is given the permission to sync contacts from your iOS, Android, or Windows device, those contacts will automatically be imported as soon as you start typing to share content. Step by step information on how to do that can be found in this article.
Use Salesforce to link your leads and contacts with Showpad
If you use our Salesforce integration, very little will change for you with the sunsetting of the Contacts tab in Showpad. Your contacts will continue to sync and autofill between Showpad and Salesforce, as long as they are entered in Salesforce. More information about integrating Salesforce with Showpad can be found here.
Export all contacts as an administrator
As an admin, you can view and export a list of contacts created by your users ahead of time, to make sure you have a backup copy. You can also easily move contacts from Showpad to a different location such as Salesforce or an Excel spreadsheet by following these instructions.
Export all contacts as an iOS or Android user
As a user, you can also export a list of Showpad contacts that you made via your iOS or Android device. Step by step instructions for both can be found here:
