Smart Folders are a special type of folder that you can add to your Channels to organize your content. As the name suggests Smart Folders distinguish themselves from regular folders by their ability to “scan” content for file type, properties, specific tags and sources, and automatically pull in assets that match the set criteria. When used correctly, Smart Folders can greatly reduce the time you would otherwise spend on putting content in the right Channels and folders. Refer to the “Related Articles” section at the bottom of this article for more information on Channels, folders and Smart Folders.
To use Smart Folders correctly, you need to take the following into account:
- Think about your content structure. While regular folders can contain other folders, Smart Folders or content, a Smart Folder is at the bottom of the content structure hierarchy and can only contain content.
- Add tags to your content to allow Smart Folders to identify the content they need to pull in.
- Configure your Smart Folders correctly to ensure they pull in the correct content.
