Allow users to edit Microsoft Office files

With Showpad’s Microsoft Office integration, your users can edit PowerPoint, Excel, and Word documents that you upload into Showpad. It guarantees they have the latest branding and messaging format and helps them to have personalized sales conversations.

For marketing content, users can create a copy of the file and edit it. The copy will then be saved in their My Files folder. For MS Office documents uploaded to their My Files or Collections, they can edit the original file or create a copy and save it under My Files.

Note: Showpad always optimizes files to make sure that users have a speedy and active buying experience. Animations, videos, and macros won't be available for users in the optimized document.

Enable the Microsoft Office integration

1. Go to Settings, Integrations, and Microsoft Office.
2. Select the MS Office integration of your choice: 
   
   
   • Microsoft Office Personalization allows users to edit files in the native Microsoft app.
     They need:
          - A device with Microsoft Windows 10 or 11 installed,
          - Microsoft Office 2016 or 2019 installed locally,
          - Permissions on their device to download the Showpad Edit app for file transfer, or the app already installed by their admin via an EXE or MSI file.
     
     
   • Office Online Personalization allows users to edit files online in Office 365.
     This solution works on all devices. 

At this point:

• All marketing files will still be non-editable by default, but you can enable personalization on a per-document basis from the Library. See how in the next section.
• The MS Office files that users upload to their My files or Collections folders are already editable. They can either edit the original file or create a copy and save it under My Files.

Note: If you have installed the Showpad Edit app and users still get the message that it must be installed, the issue may involve the proxy that your company is using. Whitelist https://showpad-local-edit.app.showpad.com to guarantee user access.

Mark marketing files as editable in your Library

1. Go to the Library tab and choose a Division, if relevant.
2. Select a file and click the pencil icon to open the Permissions settings.
3. Enable the ‘Can be personalized’ checkbox, then click Save.
